Sponda’s head office in the centre of Helsinki wishes to set an example with specific measures for reducing the environmental load of an office building.
Sponda has introduced WWF Finland’s Green Office environmental service for offices, through which work places can reduce their environmental load, obtain savings and mitigate climate change. The Green Office concept has been developed because office premises are in a key position as far as energy consumption and sustainable solutions are concerned. Green Office motivates personnel to everyday environmentally friendly deeds, improves environmental awareness and gives cost savings.
WWF granted Sponda Plc's head office in Helsinki the right to use the Green Office logo. In an office inspection carried out by WWF in August 2010, Sponda fulfilled the criteria for being awarded the designation.
Sponda's Green Office environmental programme strives to:
- reduce the office's energy and paper consumption
- increase the recycling of waste and reduce the amount of waste generated by the office
- favour environmentally friendly options for work commutes and business trips.
With the Green Office scheme, the head office has concentrated on energy savings and waste sorting as a part of daily activities. In addition to environmental aspects of office work, Sponda has devoted a great deal of effort to environmentally friendly commuting.
Company bicycles are offered to all employees and their popularity is constantly increasing. Sponda’s company car policy promotes the use of low-emission cars. Eco-driving training is provided to company car holders and it is available to other employees as well.

Sponda Plc's head office in Helsinki follows WWF's Green Office environmental programme.
