Sponda negotiates the construction of the gatehouse and passenger terminal at Vuosaari Harbour The Port of Helsinki has embarked on negotiations with Sponda Plc, the real estate investment company, concerning the construction of the gatehouse and passenger terminal at Vuosaari Harbour. The aim is for the Harbour Committee to reach a decision on the basic agreement in September. The project will be completed in two phases. In the first phase some 12,600 m² of the gatehouse will be constructed, as well as the harbour passenger terminal, with an area of around 800 m², and carpark facilities for 300 vehicles. The overall investment for this phase will come to around EUR 34 million, with investments starting early in 2007. The buildings will be completed by the end of November 2008. In the second phase of the project, retail and office premises will be constructed in the gatehouse, totalling 4,500 m², by 2014. The overall investment for the second phase is currently estimated at EUR 8 million. Sponda will be the long-term owner of the buildings and will be responsible for letting and maintaining the property. The Port of Helsinki’s cargo operations will transfer to Vuosaari by the end of 2008. Sponda Plc
