Responsibility commitments

Our responsible operations are guided by Sponda’s Code of Conduct and the principles of the UN’s Global Compact initiative.

The Sponda Code of Conduct provides ethical guidelines to employees on how to conduct themselves in the workplace. The Code of Conduct has been approved by Sponda Plc’s Executive Board on 3 July 2019.

We aspire to be at the forefront of the real estate industry. We strive to create value for our stakeholders through accretive opportunities, acquisitions, internal value add projects and property development initiatives. We seek to outperform our competitors through fair and honest means, and we look for competitive advantages through superior performance - never through unethical or illegal business practices. We plan and evaluate our activities  from economic, social and environmental responsibility perspectives and we conduct our business transparently, complying with legislation and regulations at all times.

Our roots lay firmly in our values: innovation, professionalism and reliability. Our approach is to go the extra mile for our customers, communities, partners and the environment, to provide the best service and maximize added value for all stakeholders. We also expect our business partners to follow our Code of Conduct with integrity and to operate transparently.

We are committed to the ten globally accepted responsibility principles of the UN Global Compact, which are related to human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption. We are also committed to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations (2030 Agenda), which are in line with our aims of sustainable development and continuous improvement. In decision-making and governance, Sponda Plc complies with the Finnish Limited Liability Companies Act and other legal provisions governing limited liability companies and issuers of securities as well as the company's articles of association.

The principles of UN Global Compact:

Human Rights
Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and
Principle 2: make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

Labor
Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining;
Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour;
Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labour; and
Principle 6: the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.

Environment
Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges;
Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility; and
Principle 9: encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.

Anti-Corruption
Principle 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
