Join our Environmental efficiency and Environmental partnership programme
Our Energy efficiency programme seeks to achieve energy savings and reduce the carbon footprint of properties in co-operation with their users. The properties included in the programme carry out a regular energy review to determine the energy consumption of each property and to examine the different technical systems relating to energy consumption. Based on these reviews, adjustments and repairs are made at the properties in line with their use, as well as investments that are profitable from a technical-economic standpoint. At present, 88% of Sponda’s properties are included in the Energy efficiency programme.
Energy-saving goals and measures for achieving them are set individually for each property in co-operation with the users. We monitor energy and water consumption, as well as waste management volumes, for our properties located in Finland on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. For office properties in Russia, the consumption of electricity and water are monitored on a monthly and annual basis. The cost savings achieved through the Energy efficiency programme are reinvested in the property.
Our Energy efficiency programme’s target of achieving energy savings of 10 per cent by 2016, using the average consumption in 2001–2005 as the baseline, was achieved ahead of schedule in 2013. Our long-term target is to achieve a 20 per cent reduction in energy consumption by 2020, again using the average consumption in 2001–2005 as the baseline.
The Energy efficiency programme comprises the following steps:
- An energy review to determine the energy consumption and to examine the different technical systems relating to energy consumption.
- Setting property-specific energy efficiency goals and measures for achieving them based on the results of the energy review.
- Monitoring the impact of the measures and how well targets are met in regular meetings with customers.
The Environmental partnership programme aims to reduce the environmental load resulting from the use of properties by engaging in closer co-operation with customers. In addition to energy consumption, the programme takes into account the broader environmental impact of properties and customers’ operations, such as material efficiency and water consumption. Communicating the environmental efficiency of the property to those who work there is also part of the environmental partnership.
Together with WWF and other partners, we organise environmental awareness events at our customers’ properties. The environmental awareness events are open to all users of the property. The aim is to increase awareness of matters such as the energy consumption of the property, waste recycling and good practices that create a positive impact.
Shaped by the customer's needs, the partnership is aimed at achieving environmental goals. The objectives and forms of co-operation will be agreed separately with each customer. The Environmental partnership programme enhances the co-operation started under the Energy efficiency programme and involves the selection of annual measures and following up on their implementation.
